Research Interests

In 2000 I received my Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry and Biology from the United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Tottori University, Japan. In 2000-2001 I worked in the Department of Biochemistry at Kansas State University as a Postdoctoral Fellow. My research interests are in the area of chitin metabolism and include the biochemistry and molecular biology of plant and insect chitinolytic enzymes. My current research studies are focused on the structures and functions of insect chitin synthases and their genes.

Selected Publications

Some reprints are available in PDF format. Click icon to View, Right-Click to Save. (Download Adobe Acrobat Reader if necessary).
If a PDF reprint is NOT available, click the 'Add' to the left of the item in the following list. This will add the reprint to a virtual basket. To request the selected reprints, follow the 'Check Out' link at the top of the publication listing. You may add reprints to the basket from anywhere on the SPIRU website, but you must remain on the website (and show activity every 20 minutes or so) for the basket to save your selections. Once you have selected all reprints you wish to request, click the link in the menubar of the header of the site that says 'X Publication(s)'. This will lead you through the process of checking out. It will collect and verify all information needed to get the proper materials to you. Selected reprints will be sent by mail. Please allow several weeks for delivery. Per-session cookies must be enabled for this function to work.
